About Sondra Fraleigh and her Music
Sondra is professor emeritus of dance at the State University of New York (SUNY). She studied piano as a child, then became an organist and music major in college, studying composition at the graduate level with Lou Harrison and others. Now she loves composing music on computer, mixing synthesizer with traditional orchestral instruments and world music. Being an improvisor at heart she is inspired by intuitive dances, yoga, meditative states, and especially by nature. She has written nine books on dance and composed many electroacoustic music works. Her tastes in music range widely, as do her interests in dance for theater and movement for well-being. Recently, she is writing about finding voice in music and dance and the art of paying attention.
